Arguably, the late night hours are some of St James’s finest. From perfect serves, to seafood paired with apéritifs, make sure you’re frequenting the best bars, dancefloors, and eateries of the London nightlife scene this autumn, with help from our selective guide.

Eat Mediterranean at Claro

From Tel Aviv to Waterloo Place, Claro infuses traditional Mediterranean dishes with a touch of Middle Eastern influence. Carrying the collaborative spirit of the restaurant’s founders, Claro’s open kitchen promises emboldened flavours, plenty of atmosphere, and a seasonal menu that never disappoints. Expect: seared meats, fresh seafood, and rich afters. Perfect for date night dining, or a friendly soirée.

Sip a martini at DUKES Bar

DUKES Bar is said to have once inspired the famous line, “shaken, not stirred”, as the choice spot for James Bond writer Ian Fleming. Famed today for its martinis, DUKES’ reputation amongst St James’s late night tastemakers arguably exceeds any anecdote, where free-poured tipples and boutique interiors have cemented the spot as one of the best bars this side of London.

Share a memorable meal at Jul’s

Jul’s represents the best of Mediterranean hospitality, offering memorable dining just a stone’s throw from Piccadilly Circus. Where the kitchen’s authentic dishes and sun-drenched flavours are met with their team’s attentive service, Jul’s is the ideal choice for occasions with loved ones, sharing stories across the table. You’ll also spot Jul’s generous wine list and cocktail menu, making the bistro a crowd pleaser that’s yet wholly unique.

Dine at The Wolseley

Priding 23 years at the crux of London hospitality, The Wolseley seems to hit the mark when it comes to casual glamour. Famed for their all-day dining service, visiting the café after hours offers effortless charm, where art deco interiors are lit warmly and the conversation comes easy. Nestled between Mayfair and Piccadilly Circus, we suggest booking a table for dinner after an evening stroll through St James’s Park.

Enjoy live music at Quaglino's

Celebrating their grand reopening last month, now is perhaps the perfect time to experience the cult decadence of Quaglino’s. Toasting to almost a century at the crux of St James’s fine dining and late night establishments, the restaurant has been recently graced with a Cannes-inspired dessert bar, Fruits de Mer counter, and Champagne bar. We’d also recommend booking in to one of Quaglino’s live spectacles, which, understandably, are highly sought after.

Visit a bar in a bookstore

Inside the renowned Maison Assouline bookstore, Swans Bar invites new stories to unfold within its rouge interiors, inlaid with shelves of literature. Mixing picture-perfect cocktails with all the whimsy of a fairytale, each tipple on its menu is inspired by a different travel locale, making one’s evening at the heart of Piccadilly seem far removed from anywhere familiar.

Try Indonesian cuisine at Toba

Always a fan favourite, Toba in St James’s Market brings authentic Indonesian food to the heart of the city. Chef Pino opened Toba in 2023, naming the restaurant after his mother’s hometown, and through his delicious menu, introduces visitors to the abundance of flavours and foods synonymous with the island nation. The beef rendang is always popular, particularly when paired with the sate ayam – tender chicken skewers served in a homemade peanut sauce.

Have dinner at Maison François

Maison François is a brasserie best loved for its fresh salads, dressed seafood, and charcuterie, paired with an apéritif. This month, restaurant bar Frank’s will open its doors to some of England’s most respected resident chefs once more, continuing its popular, concept dining series. Hosted over two final evenings, bridging Mediterranean flavours and steakhouse cuisine, the dinners are likely to sell out, so book now to avoid missing out.

Try a theatrical cocktail

Located inside the Haymarket Hotel, Brumus sits pretty at the heart of London’s theatre district. Combining classic and contemporary cuisines, perfect pre or post show, there, you’ll also find one of our favourite cocktail bars to drop by and enjoy the sounds of live jazz. With many drinks taking inspiration from iconic musicals, Brumus is the perfect place to toast to a night of star-studded entertainment.
