A slow wander around the Royal Academy of Art, a Fortnums-style picnic in the park followed by a screening of your favourite film… make your idyllic summer’s day a reality with our curated guide to the season in St James’s.

1) Catch some live sports in St James’s Market

Catching the summer’s sport in action this season? Wander over our way and spend it with us as we show live matches from Wimbledon on our big screen in St James’s Market. Plus, a selection of treats, tipples and more are available to set the summer scenes in motion.

2) Celebrate the World Cup season at Oshpaz

To celebrate Uzbekistan qualifying for the World Cup, Oshpaz is marking the occasion in the best way… with exceptional food and an electric atmosphere. Their Silk Road Match Menu is designed to be eaten communally whilst enjoying the games, with mini plov bowls and samsa the perfect accompaniments for those looking to learn more about Uzbek culture and famed hospitality.

3) Plan a picnic in the park

Summer wouldn’t be summer without a Fortnum & Mason picnic. Catch rays whilst snacking away in one of central London’s parks and gardens with an iconic picnic blanket and wicker basket duo as your trusty sidekick. May we suggest St James’s Park for 23 hectares of natural escapism? For the menu, glance through our ultimate picnic guide to gather all the ingredients for the perfect summer soiree.

4) Experience the arts

An essential part of summer in London since 1769, the Summer Exhibition 2026 at the Royal Academy returns. The open submission exhibition at Burlington House showcases art in all forms, featuring works by emerging artists alongside established names. For those who know that one gallery is never enough, continue your experience with a wander around St James’s world-renowned art galleries and exhibits.

5) Raise a toast on a summer terrace

Heatwave, you say? Allow us to introduce you to some al fresco hotspots. Claro's terrace is perfect for lounging outdoors with nibbles and thirst-quenching drinks. Toba serves spice-filled Indonesian food with a side of sunshine. Or settle in at one of Maison Francois’s al fresco tables. Our neighbourhood’s not short of places to soak up the sun while you enjoy a good meal, so choose your favourite and book a spot now.

6) Go to a classic film screening

From 10th June, Quaglino’s Summertime Screenings return with a series of iconic films like Grease, Dirty Dancing and Mamma Mia for you to get nostalgic over. Or, if you’re more Messi than musical, Quaglino’s live England screening hosted by football legend Peter Reid might be more to your taste.
